| Welcome to Year 4 |
Mrs Jones, Mr Juckes & Mrs Bethell
Year 4 is an exciting and rewarding year where children continue to grow in confidence, independence and resilience as Key Stage 2 learners. Building on the strong foundations established in previous years, children are encouraged to challenge themselves, take greater responsibility for their learning and develop the skills needed to become successful, lifelong learners.
At Lingfield, our engaging and ambitious curriculum inspires children to ask questions, think critically and explore new ideas. Through exciting topics, practical investigations, educational visits and creative learning opportunities, children deepen their understanding of the world around them while developing their knowledge across the curriculum. Whether tackling complex mathematical problems, writing for a range of purposes, conducting scientific enquiries or exploring significant historical events, every day brings new opportunities for achievement and discovery.
A key focus in Year 4 is developing fluency and confidence in multiplication and division facts, culminating in the national Multiplication Tables Check (MTC). We work closely with families to support children in mastering their times tables, as this knowledge forms an important foundation for future mathematical learning.
Reading remains at the heart of everything we do, helping children broaden their vocabulary, improve comprehension and develop a love of books. We encourage all children to read regularly at home and school, fostering a lifelong enjoyment of reading.
Year 4 is a year of significant academic and personal growth. By the end of the year, children are confident, independent learners who are well prepared for the increasing challenges and exciting opportunities that await them in Upper Key Stage 2.
