Welcome to Year 5

Miss Hoskins & Mrs Stokes

Year 5 is an exciting and rewarding year where children are encouraged to become confident, independent learners and role models within our school community. As they move towards the final stage of primary education, children develop greater responsibility for their learning while continuing to build the knowledge, skills and resilience needed for future success.

At Lingfield, our engaging and ambitious curriculum inspires curiosity, creativity and a love of learning. Children enjoy a wide range of exciting opportunities, including challenging investigations, collaborative projects, educational visits and rich learning experiences that deepen their understanding across all subjects. Whether they are exploring complex scientific concepts, analysing historical events, developing their writing skills or tackling sophisticated mathematical reasoning, children are encouraged to think critically and challenge themselves.

Reading remains at the heart of our curriculum, helping children expand their vocabulary, strengthen comprehension skills and develop a lifelong appreciation of books. We continue to encourage regular reading at home to support learning across all areas of the curriculum.

Year 5 is a year of significant personal and academic growth. Children develop confidence, resilience and leadership skills as they prepare for the opportunities and responsibilities of Year 6. By the end of the year, they are well equipped to embrace the challenges ahead and take the next important step in their primary school journey with confidence and enthusiasm.
