| Welcome to Year 6 |
Mrs Gamble & Mrs Stokes
Year 6 is a memorable and exciting year, marking the final chapter of your child’s journey at Lingfield Primary School. It is a year filled with responsibility, challenge, achievement and celebration as children prepare for the transition to secondary school and reflect on all they have accomplished during their primary years.
At Lingfield, we encourage our Year 6 pupils to become confident, independent and resilient learners who lead by example and embody our school values. Through an ambitious and engaging curriculum, children are challenged to think critically, solve problems, collaborate with others and develop a deeper understanding across all areas of learning. Whether exploring complex mathematical concepts, producing high-quality writing, investigating scientific questions or studying significant historical events, children are encouraged to strive for their very best.
As well as preparing for the end of Key Stage 2 assessments, Year 6 offers a wealth of opportunities for personal development. Pupils take on leadership roles, support younger children, participate in residential visits and enjoy memorable experiences that help build confidence, teamwork and independence. We place great importance on ensuring children feel prepared, both academically and emotionally, for the next stage of their education.
Reading remains at the heart of our curriculum, helping children to develop the vocabulary, comprehension and critical thinking skills needed for success across all subjects. We continue to encourage regular reading at home and foster a lifelong love of books and learning.
Year 6 is a year of tremendous growth and achievement. By the time they leave Lingfield, our pupils are well-prepared for secondary school, equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to embrace new opportunities, overcome challenges and continue to flourish as successful learners and responsible citizens.
